The Delaware Symphony Orchestra presents a full spectrum of programming that includes classical, chamber and expanded children's and family programs, a New Year's Eve concert and an adult educational series. From the symphonies of Beethoven to the jazz improvisations of the French Quarter, there are sounds to please any palette.
Since its founding in 1944, Opera Delaware has presented 198 productions of 104 operas by 55 composers. Opera Delaware has also presented 19 world premieres (18% of their repertoire) and 3 U.S. premieres in the same time frame. With over 60 years presenting hundreds of beautiful operas, Opera Delaware remains one of the most enduring and successful companies in the nation.
First State Ballet Theatre was co-founded by Pasha Kambalov and Kristina Dippel, formerly principal dancers with the Russian Ballet Theater of Delaware. The mission of the new company is to provide performing opportunities to aspiring dancers and to present professional quality dance performances to audiences throughout Delaware and in the region.
The Paul Green School of Rock Music is the original performance based, interactive music school, founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Under the direction of Eric Svalgard, the Wilmington chapter believes that "the best way to learn to do almost anything is by doing it, and we feel that this is particularly true about music."
Target Studios is owned and operated by producer, engineer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Marc Moss and located in the baby grand. With over 150 CD projects to his credit, Marc is one of the most respected producers in the Mid-Atlantic region. Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Marc has always made music his livelihood, both as a performer and as owner and founder of Target Studios.
The Delaware Kenya Association (DEKA) is a growing non-profit organization for Kenyan immigrants and friends of Kenya which was launched in 2001 to champion the issues of Kenyans both in the United States and in Kenya. The organization's headquarters are in Newark, Delaware, U.S.A. Since its inception, the organization has assisted many Kenyan immigrants living in Delaware with different issues and taken on some issues in Kenya through the spirit of "harambee" (pulling together).
The Arden Club Concert Gild usually brings musicians to the 150-year-old Gild Hall here in Arden, Delaware, just ten minutes north of Wilmington, and twenty minutes south of the Philadelphia airport. Now, with the help of the Delaware Division of the Arts, The Grand and the Gild have joined forces to present concerts at The Grand.
The Green Willow is dedicated to the preservation and growth of Celtic and British Isles folk music. Concerts by artists from Ireland, Scotland and England are most often featured, interspersed with those from Canada, the United States, Australia, France and Spain. From Child ballads to sea music, from strathspeys to reels, the Green Willow seeks to keep alive the folk music traditions of Celtic and Anglo communities all over the world.
The Three Little Bakers Dinner Theatre officially closed their doors in early 2007. But, thanks to a collaborative effort between the City of Wilmington, The Grand and Three Little Bakers, in conjunction with VR Hospitality group and Weber-Prianti; The Grand is proud to present "Home for the Holidays," from November 23 through December 30. Based on their very first revue in 1990, this holiday revue features over 20 classic songs set in an old Victorian home where a theatrical family hosts a weekend get-together to celebrate the holidays.
The Delaware Valley Chorale is a non-profit, non-professional community chorus under the direction of David Christopher. They have joined forces with The Grand to present a very special concert performance in March at the baby grand.
City Theater Company, Delaware's Off-Broadway, is best known for theater that is full of big energy, big ideas and big humor. CTC presents a full season of both risky, provocative works and wholly original works, many of which are completely new to the stage and are Wilmington-area premieres.
